If you are new to CBD, or Cannabidiol, you most likely have many questions on what it is, if it is right for you, and if so how to know what products are best for your needs. In this post I hope to clarify some of this information.
The Endocannabinoid System
Humans and other mammals such as cats and dogs all have an Endocannabinoid System, or ECS. This system consists of two types of receptors. The CB1 receptors are found primarily in the brain and the CB2 receptors are found distributed throughout the body primarily in the immune system. It is believed that the goal of our ECS is to help our bodies regulate internal conditions and maintain and balance various biological processes.
Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids, such as anandamide, on their own. CBD is also a phytocannabinoid which means it is naturally found in plants. There is also a third type of cannabinoid known as synthetic cannabinoids which are man made to mimic naturally occurring cannabinoids such as CBD or THC.
Due to our ECS and the fact that our bodies are already producing our own endocannabinoids, CBD and other cannabinoids naturally interact with our ECS receptors. While scientists are just beginning to explore the full range of benefits CBD and other cannabinoids have for humans, “Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.” (Source: US Government patent one Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants #6,630,507)
CBD is the most abundant and widely studied of all of the non-psychoactive compounds found in cannabis. Since it is non-psychoactive, it does not alter your mental state the way that THC does. Therefore, you can go about your daily actives without worry that you’re compromised. CBD can help produce a calming effect which many report has helped them with generalized anxiety (myself included) and panic attacks. It can also help produce a better night’s sleep, relieve joint and muscle pain, and help with seizures. There has actually been a prescription drug developed to help children with epileptic seizures. The many ways that CBD has helped people have not been fully studied and new discoveries are being made as research continues. We recommend discussing CBD with your doctor prior to taking it to make sure that it is right for you. While there are currently no known side effects if taken as instructed on the package, it is always best to discuss any new supplement or oil with a healthcare professional to find out if it is a good fit with your other medications or conditions.
In addition to the benefits of CBD it is important to only purchase your products from a reputable business since there are a lot of companies out there that are selling inferior products that do not contain what they are claiming. For example, the US Food and Drug Administration recently did a random sampling of CBD products and found that, “The chemical composition of commercially available CBD oils seldom contain the levels of CBD advertised.” (Source: TheHill.com, December 4, 2018) This should be concerning to anyone looking to buy a CBD supplement. The good news is that at 113SolutionCBD.com we only work with vendors that adhere to the highest standards in the industry and refuse to sell inferior products.
Every product that we sell comes with a QR code that links you directly to the lab results showing the exact amount of CBD as well as other compounds found in the product. We have personally seen the lab where the products are manufactured and can testify to the superior quality and standards that are the cornerstone of our products. The manufacturer we buy from is in at the top in their industry in the eyes of the federal and local inspectors and are currently holding the bar for how to produce a quality product that you can trust.
